What foods should I be eating and what should I avoid?

by Mariana Bozesan

The correct diet needs to be a lifestyle diet that is fun and healthy at the same time. It should be a personalized diet that takes into account the overall health situation, the genetic imprint and the particular needs and likes of each individual.

To lose weight fast and permanently, we ought to:
  1. Alkalize our body significantly by increasing our consumption of green leafy vegetables (such as green salads, cucumbers, zucchini, etc.) to as much as 70 percent in each meal, thereby reflecting the make up of our own body.

  2. Consume more essential fats found in avocados, olive oils, flax seed oils and other oil blends such as found in Udo’s oil.

  3. Make sure we eat avariety of all food colors and tastes to get all possible nutrients, vitamins and minerals from the food directly.

  4. Supplement our daily nutrition with vitamins, minerals and enzymes for proper digestion and absorption.

  5. Apply the 70/30 rule which says that every time we eat we should consume 70 percent alkalizing foods such as fresh and raw green leafy vegetables and salads and 30 percent acid-forming foods such as meat, dairy, breads etc.

  6. Always ensure that the food we consume is of the best possible source - organic and toxin free.

What Should I Avoid?
We need to avoid foods that our bodies have difficulty digesting. Foods that are overly processed have very little nutrients left and no enzymes. Cooked food also have had the enzymes destroyed, and therefore we need to reduce our intake of cooked food and increase our intake or raw vegetables, fruits and nuts. We need to avoid food with too much salt, too many refined sugars, too many processed carbohydrates, too much protein and all kinds of toxins (herbicides, pesticides, antibiotics, hormones, preservatives, irradiation, etc.) that come with our food or drink. This includes artificial sweeteners, so diet sodas are to be completely avoided. Completely avoid transfats and any fats that have been heated to the smoking point or heated for very long, so this means avoid all deep fat fried foods. Animal fat contains "bad" cholesterol, so it should be limited to small quantities. In addition, we need to limit our intake of meat, fish and dairy as these are acid causing foods.

Our body is built of 70 percent water, 1-2 percent vitamins and minerals, 0.5-1 percent sugar, 20 percent fat and 7 percent protein. To function properly our body needs to be fed what it is actually made up of: 70 percent water rich alkalizing fruits and vegetables, 1-2 percent vitamins and minerals, 0.5-1 percent sugar, 20 percent healthy fat and 7 percent healthy proteins. Are these the kind of foods most of us have our plate every time we eat? Obviously, not, otherwise we would not face the fact that more than 64 percent of Americans are overweight and over 30 percent are obese.

Dr. Haas asserts that the average American gets 75 percent of his or her calories intake from only ten types of foods and drinks. It is normal for us to drink alcohol or soft drinks and eat huge quantities of acid-producing packaged and unhealthy fried and cooked foods. Fast foods, caffeine, meats such as beef, chicken or fish with a little token of vegetables on the side and lots of desserts compose much of the American diet. This is one reason why the U.S. has dropped from the healthiest nation in the world a century ago to number 100 today. One of the wealthiest nations has become one of the unhealthiest with heart and coronary disease as the number one killer, cancer as number two and with 64 percent of the population overweight.

As a result of our misguided eating habits, our bodies are actually starving for nutrients (vitamins, minerals, essential fats) and keeps asking for them through the sensation of hunger. Thus, we feed it more of the same old stuff that the body cannot digest- overly processed and cooked foods with no enzymes, too much salt, too many refined sugars, the wrong fats, too many processed carbohydrates, too much protein and all kinds of toxins (herbicides, pesticides, antibiotics, hormones, preservatives, irradiation, etc.) that come with our food or drink.

What does eating the wrong foods have to do with our ability to lose weight? The one word answer is energy. By eating the wrong foods and foods that are not meant for human consumption, we force the body to spend all of its energy on the digestion and elimination of these foods. This is why we feel tired and sluggish after such a meal. The body doesn’t have any energy left to eliminate the toxins from our system. Therefore, they remain there as overweight until we do have the energy to deal with them later. If we continue to eat too much of the wrong foods that later never comes and we end up getting heavier and heavier. The cornerstone of weight loss is detoxification that is entirely dependent upon energy.

I am new to the website and have not received your book yet. At this point I'm not really sure just what to order in the way of Alkalize and Enzyme products from some of the online stores to get the bang for the buck. Any suggestions on a good green powder, PH products, and enzyme product? Thanks

Hello, thank you very much for your question and for taking charge of your health and your life. As a member of the Wisdom Circle you are receiving my personal coaching on your path and you should have already received the first Emails on how to alkalize and what products can help you do that. I personally take and highly recommend David Wolfe's greens (http://www.kqzyfj.com/click-3180190-10583665) and Dr. Robert Young's greens (http://www.innerlightinc.com/), both of whom you can also access from the SHOP menu on this website. Good luck and thank you for staying in touch. Mariana Bozesan
