A year ago in December we lost the dearest friend. He had had gastric bypass surgery about five years earlier, had lost all of his extra weight and had convinced me to take that route. When he passed away it was a devastating shock because he seemed so healthy. When the hospital offered an autopsy, we decided on it and learned that he had died as a result of scar tissue from his gastric bypass building up and blocking off his bowel. That was when I decided I had to find something else. I started researching weight loss on the internet and that's when I found your web site, along with many others. Most of those others were trying to sell products that I believed would be ineffective and/or unhealthy for me.

I did find another source which taught me a lot about acidity and alkalinity. It sounded right, but the difference between you and them is that their solution came in the form of an expensive package that I wanted, but couldn't fit into my budget. You have given me information that I can use with what I have on hand. I am anxious to try the green drink, but it was nice to know that I could go ahead and get started with baking soda and water.

I feel like finally I have found something that makes sense and will help me. There is so much conflicting health and diet information available that it's been hard to know what to believe. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to share my triumphant weight loss experience following the 8 Step Program of Diet for a New Life. Mariana Bozesan and I grew up and went to school together until she left Romania to immigrate to Germany in 1974. For the past thirty years we managed to keep in touch and I have finally managed to come and visit her in Germany in the summer of 2004.

During my stay there, Mariana told me about the intriguing weight loss program she developed based on the teachings of some of the most extraordinary experts in the field today. It was a God send to learn of these natural holistic approaches to permanent weight loss and overall well-being.

After giving birth to two children some years ago and having recently turned 46 years old, I was devastated to find out that I tipped the scales at approximately 198 pounds (90 kilograms) in mid July. Being only 5'3" (162 centimeters) I am at least 80 pounds overweight. Needless to say, I have tried everything I knew to lose weight but I was never able to maintain lasting weight loss.

Back in Romania, I kept applying the Eight Steps and what I find as the most important component involved the intense alkalizing process. Living in this part of the world I find the green drink difficult to procure but Mariana told me about a well known household remedy called baking powder. I mix one-half teaspoon of baking soda with a glass of water at room temperature and drink it after each meal.

Since I began the 8 Steps of Diet for a New Life in mid July, I have not only lost 30 pounds (13.5 kilograms) but have not gained any weight back. Furthermore, I no longer experience any bloating and cravings of any kind have totally disappeared.

In addition to walking for 45 minutes every day, I am also separating protein from carbohydrates with the result being that I don’t feel heavy and want to go to sleep after eating. Because fresh vegetables are in season, I have also been able to follow the 70-30 rule, and eat 70 percent raw leafy green vegetables and 30 percent protein or pasta/rice. I am just wondering how I will be able to maintain that over the winter months.

Six weeks after starting this program, I have already accomplished a major milestone in my weight loss efforts. I am well on my way to losing all of the 80 pounds and look forward to returning back to my perfect size. I was a person who accepted the fact that as you get older you gain weight. I didn’t think there was anything wrong with being a little overweight after 40. I naturally thought that as I got older my body would change and my metabolism would slow down resulting in additional weight gain.

My world was shaken up once I learned the real connection between food and weight loss. I don’t believe in fad diets of any kind and so I innocently believed that if I eat smaller portions I would automatically lose weight. Being that I was turning 46 this year I hammered that idea into my head and started eating less, however, the weight gain remained steady. It dawned on me that maybe the portions weren’t the problem after all. But the cause might be in the type of food I was eating. Being German, I just love bread and beer, which I drink in moderation. In addition, I enjoy eating seafood and don’t particularly like salads.

Then a year ago my friend of over fifteen years, Mariana Bozesan, told me about the 8 Steps program she is putting together in her book Diet for a New Life. The most significant aspect I take from this program is the alkalization of the body through green drinks and the importance of essential fatty acids (oils) for losing weight. Furthermore, Mariana told me about proper food-combining which means not eating protein and carbohydrates in the same meal and she stressed the significance of consuming non-processed foods. I did not know that once raw food was heated it loses its valuable nutrients and the enzymes needed for proper digestion.

Thus, last year I embarked on the 8 Steps and lost the 20 pounds I needed to lose within less than four weeks. I am happy to report a year later that the weight never came back. I am not exactly sure if there is one single thing out of the 8 Steps Program which helped me lose my excess weight. My daily health routine contains not only the green drink for alkalization but the essential oils (Omega 3, 6, 9). Both the green drink and the oils help me alkalize my body and replenish its reserves with good nutrients. In the beginning, I consumed more than four liters (one gallon) of green drink per day to eliminate the pollution in my blood stream but today I simply drink one glass of green drink three times per day. This way I know that my body gets what it needs to be healthy and vital without having to over consume salads and fresh fruit, which I still don’t particularly like eating.

However, I sometimes had a hard time digesting some of my foods so I began taking enzymes as well. They help me breakdown my food and my bloating receded. The knowledge about the damage sugar produces in our body led me to reduce my intake of refined carbohydrates such as white bread, rice and pasta as well as refined sugars. Along with taking enzymes, this practice helped me to fight food cravings.

Now I have a renewed sense of hope through my new found eating habits. Therefore, I want to sincerely thank Mariana and all of her teachers for showing me how to take better control of my body. My name is Tisha and I have had to battle the bulge for most of my adult life. I would lose weight - gain it back and then some - lose it again, then gain it back again – always putting on more weight than I had previously lost. Although, my weight rarely crept past 170 pounds (77 kilograms) – being 5'8" (172 centimeters) gave the impression that I was extremely voluptuous, but in actuality I was simply overweight. Coming from a family of predominately boys – I had four brothers – I was teased on every physical trait so when my weight started to climb it was just one more thing to roast me about. I didn’t feel fat because the majority of my friends and family were overweight as well. The males in my peer group liked the idea of a woman having so-called meat on their bones so I was encouraged – no, complimented for my curvaceous features.

As an adult, I was always athletic so the added pounds never hindered my activity in any way. Actually, the physical activity helped me to keep my weight somewhat under control being that I never liked to diet so I would eat pretty much anything I wanted. The increase in my weight got out of hand in my late twenties. My mother had just relocated with her job out of state and I became totally depressed. My support system was gone so I resorted to eating binges for comfort.

As if using food as a healing salve wasn’t bad enough, I compounded my trouble by becoming a couch potato. A typical evening after work would consist of tortilla chips and salsa, a pasta dish and ice cream. Before I knew it, I was a whopping 203 pounds (92 kilograms). I remember it like it was yesterday. Walking into the doctor’s office knowing I had put on some weight but never in my wildest imagination would I have guessed that I had gained 30+ pounds (13.6 kilograms) in one year’s time. I was totally devastated when I saw the scale tip over 200 pounds (90 kilograms).

I decided right then and there this behavior would not continue one moment further. The following day I was back in the gym with a vengeance. I started watching what I eat again – following a watered down version of the Atkins Diet. I did lose the weight, but knew that my health wouldn’t last if I continued to eat fried eggs, cheese, sour cream and meat products on a daily basis for rest of my life. So I decided to get smart about my maintenance program. And as they say when the student is ready to learn, the teacher appears or something like that.

Hello, I am Maria and I would like to share my success story of permanent weight loss with you. Mitzi Mager, Pennsylvania

My name is Mitzi Mager. A lifetime of poor choices led me to my path to Innerlight. In November of 2001, not only was I tipping the scales at around 240 pounds (108.8 kilograms) (my highest weight was 252 pounds (114.3 kilograms)), I was experiencing symptomologies that kept me bed-ridden for just about two months (vomiting, extreme vertigo, migraines, blacking out...).
