What Scale to Buy? Where do I get the BMI Scale?

by Sageera EIC

Our Body Mass Index Calculator and Scale is freely available on the Internet at http://www.sageera.com/bmi-article. It's not for sale as it is an interactive piece of software on our website. It's always at your service.
What you need at home is just a normal bathroom scale and your height. When you enter your weight and height into the BMI Calculator and Scale it shows you your BMI (body mass index) and where you are relative to the weight categories "normal", "overweight", and so on. Please read the article, too, as it explains how BMI should be interpreted and what the limitations are.

If you are looking to buy a body fat scale (a scale that measures your body fat as a percentage of your total body weight), you find them on the Internet. Try "Google" and type "Body Fat Scale". We have one at home made by Tanita.

Having recently had a medical and been told my BMI at 33.1 was too high I decided to look up BMI on Wikipedia. On the site you are led to the BMI calculator on this site. I have to say that there is a flaw in the metric calculations as the denominator should be 2 times your height and not height squared. Please try this out with my vitals which are 16st 7lbs (231lbs)(105 kgs) and 5'10"(70inches)(1.57metres) I believe the WHO as well as Wikipedia use this incorrect calculation, please correct me if I am wrong. Thanks

Dear Beepee46: The BMI formula divides WEIGHT by HEIGHT SQUARED. Using your weight and height in US/UK units, you'll get an BMI of 33.1 Using metric units you need to use 105 kg and 1.78 m and will reach the same BMI of 33.1. All the best.
