What about Yogurt for Alkalizing?

by Mariana Bozesan

According to my teacher Dr. Robert O. Young, author of The pH Miracle and the pH Miracle for Weight Loss, dairy products are actually acid building and not alkalizing. In my program, yoghurt is being mentioned collectively as a dairy product. As such, it is considered acid building due to its content on lactic acid, sugar, as well as various herbicides, pesticides, hormones and other chemical substances, if the yogurt doesn't come from an organic source.

Having said that, I am not a purist or a dogmatic person in any way. Therefore, should you like to eat yoghurt, I would highly recommend experimenting with it to see how your body responds to it when you have it. Just eat it alone and notice if you have an acidic reaction to it (burping or bloating). If you do, I would stop eating it for a while until you have reached your target weight. After that try to reintroduce it (as recommended in the three months DFNL Coaching Program) in small quantities and consume lots of green drink or baking soda with it to neutralize the acid it produces. This way you can still enjoy what you like and stay alkalized at the same time. In addition, I recommend you stick to what I call the Dr. Ornish Method: Eat two bites of any desert or food you adore but don't want to indulge in. The first bite is to see how it tastes, the second is to meditate over it and thorowly enjoy it. You won't need a third bite since you are committed to both eating what you like and staying healthy. I hope this answers your question. Namaste!

Organic yogurt is a wonderful source of healthy bacteria in the gut. Like everything, yogurt eaten in small quantities is healthy. However, if your body is overly acidic, which we can find out through pH paper teats, I would highly recommend the consumption of green salads, vegetables and legumes. When your body has a pH level of 7.3 you can eat some yogurt and measure the pH level again. Your test will tell you how your body responds to yogurt. If the pH goes down, yogurt makes you acidic, if it stays alkaline you're fine. I hope that answers your questions. Love, Mariana
