Guidelines for Healthy Nutrition

“The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy.”
-Martin Luther King, Jr.

by Mariana Bozesan

There are three guidelines which, when observed, will support you significantly if you are determined to lose weight fast and keep it off forever:
  1. Guideline #1: Energizing. Listen to your body and do everything that gives you energy. Leave all out that robs energy from your body.

  2. Guideline #2: Alkalizing. Maintain the body’s alkaline level at the required pH.

  3. Guideline #3: Refilling. Provide the body with the essential building blocks of health to create health and vitality.

Let us look at these guidelines in more detail:

Guideline #1: Energizing. Listen to your body and do everything that gives you energy. Leave all out that robs energy from your body.

What gives energy to our bodies?
  • Pure water,

  • Oxygen and light,

  • Regular moderate exercise,

  • Happy emotions,

  • A life of purpose and service,

  • Healthy foods.

What consumes the most energy in our bodies?
  • Digesting acid forming junk foods and drinks,

  • Extensive strenuous physical activity,

  • Dealing with toxins,

  • Healing processes,

  • Worries and negative emotions.

If you feel groggy after a meal, your body is telling us to sleep because it needs the energy to digest the food and drink you just had. The human body contains only a limited amount of energy. When the body needs that energy to heal, the digestive process slows down. This is why we are not hungry when we are sick.

What does this have to do with losing weight? Everything.

To lose weight, we need to save our energy to shed pounds and detoxify.

We can do that by:

  • Eating foods that give energy such as salads, greens, fruits and vegetables.

  • Combining our foods properly to optimize the digestive process.

  • Taking enzymes to further improve and facilitate digestion.

  • Exercising regularly and moderately in any possible way — walking, biking, swimming, etc. — to increase our body metabolism, enabling us to use up calories even while sitting or sleeping.

Guideline #2: Alkalizing. Maintain the body’s alkaline level at the required pH.

Just as the body temperature has to stay constant in order to be healthy, we need to keep our body’s acid-alkaline balance, also called pH levels, constant at 7.3. That takes a little effort given contemporary life in the industrialized world. Antacids are the most used drugs in America because we live acid producing lifestyles. Stress, emotional overload, alcohol, smoking, processed foods, meat, dairy products and foods with sugars create an acidic body, a state that is life-threatening if left unchecked. Out of self-preservation, the body rallies to neutralize the acid through the best way it knows how — by using up our calcium and other minerals in the body and by holding onto fat.

The single most important thing we can do to lose weight and keep it off permanently is to alkalize the body by:

  • Consuming essential fats;

  • Drinking baking soda (1/2 teaspoon in a glass of water three times per day) or green drinks (available in most health food stores and on the Internet);

  • Eating dark leafy green vegetables and legumes;

  • Eating less meats and dairy products;

  • Consuming less sugar, desserts and refined carbohydrates; and

  • Letting go of alcohol, smoking and caffeine — all of which produce acids.

Guideline #3: Refilling. Provide the body with the essential building blocks of health to create health and vitality.

The third guideline is to support the body in building new cells and tissues by refilling its storage with vitamins, minerals, essential fats as well as the right proteins and carbohydrates.

To meet the guidelines for alkalizing, energizing and replenishing, I recommend the following products which I found to be the best in the market and which I currently use:

Green drinks: Superfood: ''Nature's First Food'' (raw, organic green superfood) by David Wolfe, SuperGreens by Dr. Robert Young or Udo’s Choice Green Blend by Dr. Udo Erasmus.

Vitamins: Vita Synergy for Men or Women from David Wolfe or Women’s Pack or Men’s Pack by Dr. Robert Young

Minerals: ''David Wolfe's Mineral Intake Programs'' or Dr. Young’s host of minerals including Trace Minerals and Whole Leaf Aloe Plus Minerals

Essential Fatty Acids: Udo's Choice Oil Blend by Dr. Udo Erasmus, primrose oil, flaxseed oil and other oil blends available in the refrigerated section of health food stores or online.

Enzymes and Probiotics: Dr. Ellen Cutler's products from WellZymes or Udo’s Choice Enzyme Blend by Dr. Udo Erasmus.

In addition, I cannot stress enough the importance of drinking a sufficient quantity of purified water. Humans should consume at least one gallon (four liters) of water per day, and more for those living in a hot climate.

You can purchase the above products in health food stores, online or at www.sageera.com/Shop/.
